New This Month:

Tyanna Buie (Studio Resident, ’12) is showing Still Lives, a multimedia, site-specific installation at ONE Gallery in the Museum of Wisconsin Art. Show runs August 8 – November 2, 2014. Opening reception August 7, 5-8pm. Artist talk August 28, 6:30pm.

Jessica Fong (Ceramics Intern, ’13) is showing her ceramic vessels in Cede to Seed, exploring how cultural histories live in ethnographic objects. Presented as a part of the 2014 Visions in Clay at LH Horton Jr Gallery, Stockton, CA. Show runs August 7 – September 18. Reception August 7, 5-7pm.

Tia Kramer (Workspace Resident, ’12) is performing Five Silent Structures  as a part of It is a Door and Window That Makes a Room Useful at SOIL Gallery, Seattle, WA. Show runs August 7 – 30. Opening reception August 7, 6-8pm. Performance August 23, 4-6pm.

Yen-Hua Lee (Studio Resident, ’09) is exhibiting her workin the solo show Penetrate at the Foundations Building of The Cooper Union School of Art, NYC. Show runs August 7 – 20. Reception August 7, 4-6pm.

Katie Baldwin (Artist’s Book Resident ’08, Studio Resident ’11) is showing works on paper in the solo show Place as Story, Story as Geography at C.R. Ettinger Studio, Philadelphia, PA. Hurry–Show closes August 5!

Laura Berman (Studio Intern, ’97) is showing new layered monoprints in the solo show Coalesce at Long View Gallery, Washington DC. Hurry–Show closes August 17!

Ongoing Shows:

Diane Jacobs (Artist’s Book Resident ’00) has her book Nourish on display in the 15th Pacific Center for Book Arts‘s Member’s Show: BookWorks 2014 at the San Francisco Public Library. Through September 6.

Lorrie Fredette (Workspace Resident ’10) and Laura Moriarty (Workspace Resident ’98, ’07, ’08) are both featured in the group show Swept Away: Translucence, Transparence, Transcendence in Contemporary Encaustic at the Hunderton Art Museum, Clinton, NJ. Through September 7.

Sarah McDermott (Art-In-Education Artist’s Book Resident) is showing her recently-finished book Channel & Flow in the international juried exhibition The Book As ArtPresented by the Decatur Arts Alliance and the Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur, and part of the 2014 AJC Decatur Book Festival, Decatur, GA. Through September 19.

Lorrie Fredette and Wayne Montecalvo (Workspace Resident ’98) are featured in MINERS: An Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition on the grounds of the Snyder Estate in Rosendale, NY. The exhibition, presented by the Century House Historical Society and curated by Laura Moriarty, features site-responsive works by Hudson Valley visual artists, exploring the geological and industrial history of the Rosendale natural cement region. The show can be viewed any Sunday from 1-4pm through September 28.

DM Witman (Workspace Resident, ’12) is showing work from her “Supercluster Arion and Other Phenomena” series (made by slugs moving across silver gelatin paper to create galaxy-like marks) in the annual Art Meets Science exhibition at MDI Biological Laboratory, Salisbury Cove, ME. Through September 30.

Susan Amons (Workspace Resident ’08, ’11, ’12) is also showing in Maine Northern Skies: Clear Light, a regional show of artists interpreting the skies of Maine, at the LC Bates Museum, Hinkley, ME. Through October 15.

Diane Jacobs‘s clever WSW-produced artist’s book Alphabet Tricks is featured in Ink This! Contemporary Print Arts in the Northwest at the Tacoma Art Museum. Through November 9.
