Studio Internships

Past Interns: Amanda Kolinoski, Sandra Brown, and Amanda Thatch.

WSW hosts three interns who work with WSW staff on projects including papermaking, book arts, and arts administration. In addition to assisting with the on-going operations of the facility, interns assist WSW's Artists-in-Residence with their projects, work with artist-educators in WSW's Art-in-Education program, and participate in WSW's Summer Arts Institute classes as studio assistants.

Typical interns tasks include, among others: preparing the studios; assisting in the production of artists' books; designing, printing and distributing brochures and posters; administrative duties (including data entry and web maintenance) assisting in all aspects of the exhibition program; preparing the apartments for visiting artists/instructors; setting up evening programs; managing the set up and breakdown of lunch each day; assisting with preparations for fundraising events; and assisting in the day-to-day running of the studios, which includes general maintenance and cleaning.

Interns are crucial participants in the creative community of WSW. They are asked to work hard, and in return they are encouraged, supported and challenged in their creative lives.

Internships include housing and a stipend of $300 per month. The year-long intern sessions culminate with an Exhibition of work created during their stay.
