When entering the front doors of Women's Studio Workshop,
you step into the world of art beginning with our
etching studio. The large store-front style windows
allow floods of natural light to pour in to the
studio. The combination of hardwood floors, long
wooden countertops,and metallic presses inspire
a beautiful working atmosphere. Artists can work
in the intaglio studio through one of our grant
programs, during our Summer
Arts Institute, or by renting
the studio.
Rather than use traditional acids to etch plates, WSW
uses non-toxic materials; Ferric cloride for
copper and salt etch for aluminum and zinc. We generally
stock copper and aluminum plates, along with a selection
of fine print papers and handmade papers.
Private instruction
is also available—simply call us or send an email.
