The Angel Is My Watermark

For the creation of this book, Beisingoff was deeply inspired by Henry Miller’s forgotten story The Angel is My Watermark, and a equally unknown 17th century poem, the Song of Paper by Father Imberdis. She explained in a 2026 interview, “I have invented a type of watermark that, in addition to its transparency, also leaves impressions. And beside Henry Miller and Father Imberdis’s, the book has a third voice, my own (in Century typography). I describe the emancipation of the little watermark angel.”

The edition is made from handmade paper produced at WSW during the artists residency with rich texture, embossing’s, colorful etchings, and silkscreened text that accompany the elaborate watermarking process. Accordion bound in hard covers.
