au•gust art festival project

For au•gust art festival, Chris Victor is creating a collection of reduced mailboxes. In these reductive works, his aim is to get closer to the source of the object. Through the process of thinning it down physically, he draws light to the nature of the object as a conceptual thing, living solely in our minds. The tension and resonance created is between the conceptual label we put on the object and our sensual experience of it. This provides the opportunity to see the nature of the object more clearly, and through our identification with it, to see ourselves more clearly as well.
